COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL

iQ?- h(V g5-and °Pem'"g concert of the 1930 festival of the Wellington Competitions Society-will take place ™t the Town Hall tomorrow evening when, the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) who is patron of the society, will officially open the festival. An excellent programme has 'been arranged, and among other items will be ballets in costume a one-act play, song in character, story without words, classical dialogue, oration, three humorous stories, and ten minutes of magic In addition, the first four 'competitors in the grand opera contest will face the judges. There will be a complete elimination of "waits" between items, an alteration in the staging arrangements ensuring a succession of items on the non-stop principle Commencing at 9 30 a.m. in the Town Hall classes 184, 162, 187, 200, and 154 of the dancing section will be heard and at the Concert Chamber competiin° n«VXi, 11 ,toe«A lld? ed in vocal classes 3/u 59',48> !?' At the Blue Triangle Hall the elocution adjudicator will hear classes 102, 113, 89, 115. 141. and 139 The society advises that the programme will be strictly adhered to, and competitors in each class must be ready, at the appointed time. Official programmes will be available at all halls. Mr. W. Fraser, Pipe Major of the Caledonian Pipe Band, has been appointed honorary official piper to the society.
