KHANDALLAH MEETING

The Khandallah branch of the.League ,of Mothers held its annual meeting ' recently, Mrs. H. H. Cornish presiding over a very large attendance of members. An admission service was held, two new members being admitted. The secretary presented the. annual report and • financial- statement. .'■ The report disclosed a very successful year, 20 new members having been admitted, bringing the total roll to 120. A year full of. activities and continued and growing interest on the-.part of members was1 recorded. .The 'financial."statement showed that the finances of the branch were, in a very sound condition.

The retiring president, Mrs. • Cornish, was presented with a beautiful flower study. In making the presentation Mrs. .-Liltlejohn "'spoke-of the unstinted service Mrs. Cornish : had given the branch, having been president. since its inception four years ago. 'Several other members also spoke'in appreciation of her services, and theKope was expressed that the time would come when she would again take office.;. In returning thanks Mrs. Cornish'spoke of :the assistance given her by the committee and other officers, and assured members of.her continued interest as a member of the branch.

The election. of''officers for ihe ensuing year- resulted as follows:—President, Mrs. Mirams; vice-presidents, Mesdames Bollinger, Cornish, and Jack; secretary, Mrs. McNeil; card secretary, Mrs. Philpot; magazine secretary, Mrs. Morrish; committee, Mesdames Littleijohn, Ohlsson, Bird, Heays, O'Brien, Lamburd, Bradley, Craig, Shaw, McIvor, P. G. Cornish, Orr, Bradshaw. Bailey, Walker? Doiigal; McLean, and | Miss Joyce Murphy. , The entertainment for'the'afternoon was provided by the Khandallah Thesipians. The singing circle rendered I several old English songs, and the playreading circle gave a one-act play entitled "Mr. Samson,-**- by--Charles Lee. These greatly-appreciated items were heartily applauded.

The committee served a dainty afternoon tea. ■ ,
