SURF LIFE-SAVING
ISLAND BAY CLUB
The very satisfactory ' condition of the club, and its- steady progress during the past year were-emphasised by Mr. T. G. Ricketts, president of the Island Bay Life-saving and Surf Club, at its annual meeting last night.
The Island Bay Municipal. Electors' Association had had under consideration a scheme. to' hold a carnival in February, which, if it proved successful, would become an annual event. They desired to enlist the- support of the surf club, the Returned Soldiers' Association auxiliary, the Plunket Society, spouts clubs, and other organisations in the district which would share in the benefits. Means of .raising money which.Mr. Ricketts mentioned the carnival would include, were a queen' carnival and an art union. The surf club appointed three delegates to attend the next meeting to be called by the carnival's promoters.

The appointment of delegates to the surf association was left to the executive.
It was decided that a committee of three, to be called the : "water polo committee," be elected ai the annual meeting, to control the water polo activities of the club and.control .entries for inter-club races. Messrs. A. Russell, S. Harris, and G. E. Perry; were elected. - . ' ; . . :■
A motion, of which, notice had been given, that the season 1936-37 be declared the jubilee year of the club, and that a fund be inaugurated to defray the necessary . expenses, lapsed " for want of a seconder..
