NORTHERN TOUR ENDED

The Japanese- Good-will Mission, which arrived at Wellington onj Monday and left for Auckland on Tuesday night, returned to the city' this morning after visiting Auckland, Hamilton; and Rotorua.

The leader of the mission, Mr. Katsuji Debuchi,-. Japanese Ambassa£ ~r Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, received calls from representatives of the Chamber of Comemrce and Manufacturers' Associatiori •at his. hotel this morning, and from 11 o'clock onwards the. members of the. mission spent an hour ;or more inspecting Messrs. Bryant and May's match factory and the Municipal Milk. Department. Mr. Debuchi and his advisers will leave for the south by the inter-island steamer this evening, and. the Minister of Internal Affairs the Hon.. Sir Alexander Young), who returned froni the north with them this morning, will accompany them.

While the riiission was in Auckland, Mr. Debuchi placed a wreath on the War Memorial before-attending a.1 civic reception at the.Town Hall. After the reception he inspected; the harbour facilities, and later went for a drive around the city with the Mayor, ■ having afternoon tea at the Mayor's residence. In the evening he was-the guest of honour at a'civic at home in the Town Hall.

The party left Auckland at 9'a.m. yesterday for Hamilton and Rotorua, a call being made at the Taupiri dairy factory, en route. They were met at Hamilton'by .'the' Mayor and councillors, and at Whakarewarewa the Rotorua ' Borough Council arid Maori • residents accorded them a. combined welcome, Mr.; -Debuchi being presented with a Maori mere and mat. The party visited as much of the hot springs district as possible iri the time available, and then returned to Frankton Junction to connect with the Wellington express. • -

Mr.Debuchi was the guest of honour at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon today, and this afternoon is visiting various parts, of the city with the hon. Japanese Consul Mr. J. W. Matthewson). ■
