After his failure with the' Endeavour last year Mr. Sopwith stated that h» would never again race for the America Cup. Before he left for England he had modified this statement to one that he would not seek the cup again unless the rules were altered. "I an> not heartbroken because I did not.wir^ but disgusted with the spirit.in whicft international racing is conducted there," he remarked. "I do not feel vindictive-at my treatment at the hands of the New: York Yacht club, but I do feel completely disillusioned. I found that races are run as big business, something I was, not prepared to contend with. We are leaving -with, a great debt oi gratitudeto the United States public. V Whether we return rests with the New York Yacht Club and -
the deed of gift under, which the cuy is given tc that club."
