KIDNAPPING PROFITS
A MAN ARRESTED
(Received July 13, 2 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 11. Agents'of the Department of Justice have announced' the arrest of Alfred Wagner, aged 38, a man with a family who have been living on Government relief. He is charged with "attempting to extort 460,000 dollars from kidnapped victims, including the recent kidnapping of George Weyerhaeuser. Mrs. Berry Stoll would communicate with families demanding large sums under threat of death, although in no case had she anything to do with the actual crimes. In many instances, however, the victims took the communications seriously and often deposited money in hiding places as directed by Wagner, but the agents watched the places and he never collected a single dollar of the large sums asked.
