TRADE EXPANSION
WORLD'S PRESENT NEED
FOOD FOR -THE PEOPLE
OTTAWA, July 11. | "Trades expansion rather than production restriction is the present need j jf any substantial recovery from the world depression is to come about," said Mr. J. A. Lyons, Prime Minister of Australia, today. "I believe the world can consume a lot more of the right kind of food than it now consumes. When Providence has given us an abundance of food it is wrong to cut across the ends of God and deprive people of foods which are essential to health and happiness."
Australians did not hope for an even balance of trade with Canada because of special circumstances, but they would like to see Canadian exports and imports come closer together.
