RUGBY LEAGUE
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND
AUSTRALIANS' ITINERARY
SYDNEY, July 12. Mr. H. Miller, secretary of the New South Wales Rugby League, who visited New Zealand to investigate the possibilities of an Australian team's tour of the Dominion this season, declared in an interview on his return j that Rugby League was flourishing in New Zealand. He accordingly will recommend to the Australian Board of Control a regular interchange of visits by representative Australian and New Zealand teams. He will suggest that an Australian team visit New Zealand this year, play the first match at Christchurch and afterwards play at Wellington j I Whangarei, and Taupiri. j
The proposed itinerary for the Australian tour is: v. South Island at Christchurch; v. North Island at Wellington; v. New Zealand at Auckland; v. Auckland Province at Auckland; v. Auckland at Auckland; v. Northland at, Whangarei; v. New Zealand at Auckland; v. South Auckland at Taupiri.
Another proposal he is advocating will be the creation of an Australian and New Zealand Board of Control of League activities between the two countries.
Mr. Miller emphasised the great strides League football was making in the Dominion, particularly at Auckland, where the standard of play was becoming very high.
