SCOTS SOCIAL CLUB
A large number of members and 'friends of the Wellington Scots Social Club attended a social and dance held in the Mokoia Hall on Saturday night.
Mr. J. G. Aitken presided and extended a very hearty welcome to the many visitors among whom were Mr. J. G. MacKenzie (chairman of the Wellington Association Scots Societies), Mr. and Mrs. H. Smith (Gaelic Club), !Mr. J. Thomson (St. Andrew's Burns Club), and Mr. and Mrs. M. Gray Naismith (Caledonian Society).
1 The proceedings commenced with bagpipe selections played by Pipe-Major W. Fraser, after which items were contributed by Mrs. F. Crawford, Mrs. i Angus Mackay, Mr. F. Anderson, and -Mr. McNair (songs), Mr. J. Thomson (humorous monologue), and Mr. George Gunn (violin, strathspey, and reel selection). Mrs. F. Crawford was the accompanist.
Mr. Kobt. Hogg (president of the Club) delivered an interesting address on the "Battle of Bannockburn," emphasising the great significance of Bannockburn to the Scots.
At the conclusion of the concert and address the floor was cleared, and the remaining part of the evening was given over to dancing which was capably controlled by Mr. D. Bremner. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" terminated a very pleasant gathering.
