(Special to the "Evening Post.")

NELSON, June 29. Today's Rugby matches saw Old Boys return to top position in the senior championship table, but they are only separated by one point from Rival and Nelson. The points now are: Old Boys 12, Rival 11, Nelson 11, Rover 8, Waimea 4, Pirate 2. At Trafalgar Park, Rival met with a reverse at the hands of Waimea, who up to today were the lowest team in the competition. Bird and A. Lusty scored tries for Waimea in the first ten minutes, and before a quarter of an hour's play had elapsed Boyce crossed for Rival. There was no more scoring, Waimea winning by 6 points to 3 after their forwards had dominated play throughout. Senior.—Nelson 23,, Pirate 8; Old Boys 19, Rover 11; Waimea 6, Rival 3. Junior.—Old Boys 9, Rival 0; College 3, Nelson 3.

Third class.—Rival 6, Pirate 3. Other games were postponed owing to muddy grounds.
