Continued- earthquake shocks have been recorded at the Eiverview Observatory since the severe disturbance on. Thursday.' Tho seismograph became violently agitated at 4.23 on Saturday afternoon, and the'records are stated to indicate an upheaval as great as any which have previously occurred. ■" Tho centre of tho- disturbance is estimated to be 1930 miles from Sydney in a north-westerly direction.
The earthquake was recorded at Wellington) commencing to register on the seismograph at 4.54 p.m. It is estimated that the epicentre was 2160 miles from Wellington, but officials of- the Government Seismologist's office stated that it was impossible to tell in what direction* Tho distance from Wellington, however, did not agree with the Eiverview • Observatory .'s estimate of 1950 miles north-west of Sydney.
