V LOST GERMAN CLIMBERS
EFFORT TO RECOVER BODIES

CALCUTTA, July, 22.
All,hope has been abandoned of fina1 ing1 alive :the three German climbers, Mcrkl, AVieland, and Welzinbach,' lost in a blizzard on Nanga Parbat' in the ■Kashmir-Himalayas. ■
The two^British officers who -were lent to the expedition, Captains • Sangster'and:Frier,.:have returned to'Srina' gar. They state that the bodies of seven Darjeeling porters have been recovered, but it/is impos'siblo to find the Germans-yet owing to the weather conditions. All attempts to reach the summit have been abandoned, but every effort will bo made to recover all the
bodies before leaving .the mountain.
