The heat wavo spread over practically j the whole of the United States on Thursday and Friday, causing some 85 fatalities, through sunstrokes, prostration, and drowning. Showcra brought some relief to New York's sweltering millions. Additional crop damage was done in the drought-stricken agricultural sections of the Middle-West. Temperatures as high as Hi degrees were recorded.
