Museums in America have paid as high as five to ten dollars a • pound for meteorites. One Pennsylvania ;farmer paid off the mortgage on- Ms farm with the money realised from' tho salo of a meteorite which he found. -It is estimated that between 15,000,000 > and 20,000,000 meteorites enter tho earth's atmosphere every twenty-four -hours, but most of them arc burned up by the' friction- of passing through the atmosphere before they strike the earth.
