EXCITEMENT DIES DOWN

AUCKLAND, July 22
The llaon community at Ness Val ley, Clevedon, which on Saturday expected the end. of the world, was today in a more normal frame :of mind.
During the preceding three days the Maoris, under the influence of a 1(5----yeai old gnl thought herself possessed ot the Divine spirit, worked themscKcs into a state of religious excitement. Men gave: up- their- jobs, clnldien weio kept away from school, and in some cases money was thrown' .may undci the belief that all things would end at midnight on Saturday.
The Anglican clerg>man at Cle\edon \isitcd the community on Saturday mght and conducted a religious seiviee until, midnight.
Today the community! was normal, •■.ml the Maoris- who had flocked.from as far*as 50 miles away returned to their homes quite as willing to ridicule then past delusions as the outside world.
