THE DEMAND IMPROVES

There was an improved demand for New Zealand butter at the close of .business for the week in London, according to the report received by cable today by the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board, but the market is slow. Betail prices are.unchanged. Wholesale quotations are: New Zealand, salted, 73s to 74s per cwt (which, equals approximately 8.42 per Ib, and is the same as last, week); unsalted, 80s to 82s and up to 84s for extra good quality; Australian, salted, 67s to 695; Danish, spot, 86s. The -cheese market is steady, with both wholesale and retail prices unaltered from last week. Wholesale rates are:—New Zealand, white, 48s to 48s 6d (which equals approximately 5%d per pound, f.0.b.; coloured, 45s to 45s 6d; Canadian, white, 58s t0.605; coloured, 53s to 565. The market for finest English farmers' is firm at 89s to 96s
