Au; appeal for .greater co-operation by those ex-servicemen in the district, who are in a position to help is made in the first annual report of the Miramar auxiliary committee of the -Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association. It is pointed out that there are 192 on^the roll, of whom only 10 are financial members. At the commencement of the committee's work a campaign to secure employment for members was undertaken and numerous jobs were provided, each man receiving full award rates, paid equally by the employers and the Wellington.Returned Soldiers' Association. In this way 28 men were given work, and the number nf days worked totalled 24-1. An offer of a plot for the cultivation of potatoes, etc., -was made by the Seatoun Football Club, but it was too late in the season for the executive to carry out a programme. It is suggested that the incoming committee should keep the matter in view. In regard to social activities the report emphasises that good, wholesome entertainment, with an occasional -function which .the members' wives and families 'could attend, combined with a fuller spirit of camaraderie on the part of members themselves, would be the means of making the'-auxiliary a complete success. It is felt that: the organisation has filled a long-felt want and has been directly beneficial to all who have joined.
