HOUSE BURGLED
THEFT JDF SILVER
A Persian rug. and a quantity of silver, of a total value of' about £30, were stolen from ; the house of Mr. and Mrs. Gibson Stott, 100' Hobson Street,. Wellington, by some person who broke into the dwelling between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 1 a.mi yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Stott-were absent at the time, but two maids and two young children were asleep in the house. When Mr. and Mrs. Stott arrived home about 1 a.m. it was : noticed that the rug was missing from the hall. On investigation they discovered that a number of articles had.also been taken from the; mantelpiece in. the diningroom. Most of them were trophies Mr. Stott had won. .There was also missing a large clock. - Several other valuable articles were overlooked by the intruder, who,■■..'■, however, took smaller articles from a cupboard.
.A Rouse at Ngaio was < entered on Saturday night, and a sum of money stolen, but;particulars are not available.
