FANCY DRESS PARTY
PLUNKET SOCIETY EFFORT
A most delightful children's1 fancy dress party, organised by Mrs. W. Lance Moore and Mrs. P. B. Cooke, was held on Saturday afternoon in aid of the funds of the Wellington Plunket Society. The Mayfair-Adelphi Cabaret presented a charming scene, with so^t lights shining on the crowd of small people, all brightly dressed in' every imaginable fancy costume and all carrying gay-coloured gas-filled balloons. There were dainty fairies, pixies, elves, Kate Greenaway children, little Victorian ladies, all sorts of peasant costiimes in brightest colourings, Dutch, girls and boys, Indian braves, and little Chinese people. "John Bull" -looked very impressive, and a smart "Mephisto," in scarlet doublet and horned cap, was most attractive. One very tiny person wore a tunic of sacking with a large notice across her back announcing that she was "Sugar—the sweetest thing at the party." Organised games, dancing, and community einging were all thoroughly enjoyed by the children, and even the very tiniest folk joined .in the fun. Mr. Cree, sports master of Wellesley' College, was in charge of the games, and made a most successful master of ceremonies. . The pretty national ballet presented, was trained by Miss Nesta CarwollCooke. Four little girls !in sailor costumes danced a hornpipe; then there was a Highland dance, an Irish jig, and a Welsh dance. At the- conclusion, all the little dancers grouped round a tiny person dressed in the Union Jack, and made a charming tableau while the orchestra played "Rule Britannia." , A delightful children's tea was served in the- supper room,- when all the dainties beloved of.small folk were in evidence.
