GOLD AND SILVER IN CANADA.
Production of gold in Canada in 1933 totalled 2,947,618 fine ounces, compared with 3,044,387 ounces in 1932. Allowing for the new gold values in the two years, however, the value of the gold output in 3933 was 84,301,875 dollars against 71,479,373 dollars in 1932. Silver production in 1933.was 15,201,265 ouncOH, compared with 18,347,907 ounces in 1932. The reduction in silver output was due to the low price of the metal, which led a number of mines to close after mining as much of the best grade ore as was economically possible. During 1933, however, the principal silver producing ■ and silver, consuming countries reached an agreement designed to improve the world position of the metal.
