Stailey Houghton's perennially popular play |>f Lancashire life,',"Hindle Wakes," the sjory of an independently-minded lass who is bent on having a good time, will be presented tomorrow. evening as the principal subject of the new programme. It isj a British production, from the Gauriont Gainsborough studios, and has a distinguished cast, with Dame Sybil Thoradike, Norman McKinnel, John Stuaft, and Belle Chrystal in the ; chief parts. "Hindle Wakes" is a story of life in ai English industrial town, and deals with'the sorrows, happiness, loves, and hates of a simple people in a simple drama. There will be the usual high-quality sup- , poring pictures. . . .

STATE THEATRE. "Murder in Trinidad" is showing at the btate Theatre. The film serves to introduce a new type of detective, Bertram Lynch, who to all appearances is slow and stupid, but in reality is keen minded and' alert. He is called by the authorities to the •Fort of Spain to attempt to stop a flow of diamonds that is pouring into the world market via Trinidad. Shortly after his arrival an unsuccessful attempt is made on his life, and later Lynch's assistant, an under-cover man, and the Governor of the island are found: slain. In the attempt to solve the murders, Lynch picks up a trail that leads him to the Caroni swampa, treacherous with quicksand, inaccessible to man, and infested with man-eating crocodiles. Lynch and his new assistant discover the path through the swamp to an old pirate hide-away and find evidence that leads to the capture and conviction of the murderer. The final capture of 'the murderer gives a surprising twist to the picture.
