BOY EMPLOYMENT

WORK IN AUCKLAND

SAVING TO COMMUNITY

(By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND,-This Day. Last year tho local boys'' employment committeo found country jobs for 500 city boys, the majority of whom, it is believed, would otherwise have become a charge on the city's charitable organisations. It is estimated that the committee thus saved the community about £.12,000.

The annual meeting of tho committee held last night, was attended by the president, Sir Joseph Smith, the secretary, and fifteen others,, although sixty prominent citizens had been invited to come and hear about the committee's work and intentions.

"You should not bo disappointed at the small attendance," remarked tho Mayor, Mr: G. W. Hutchison. "I havo learned that the more you do the less people appreciate you. Had you not been carrying out your work in a way that the public approved you would have had many more here tonight." Another speaker remarked that all those who had turned up were extremely busy men.
