"Evenine Post" Photo. WHEN THE HEART IS YOUNG.— Children at work and play at St. Joseph's Orphanage, Upper Hutt, where twelve Sisters of Mercy care for more than two hundred children of all denominations — ■nearly half are non-Catholics. There are ISO girls and 90 boys r their ages ranging from 3to 15 years, and all are orphans. The girls learn knitting, seiving, and cooking, besides the usual scholastic subjects, and the boys are taught fanning and gardening, besides learning to knit, sew, and" darn. The Rev. Mother Ambrose, Superior of the Orphanage, is making an appeal to citizens of Wellington tomorrow by way of a "Street Day" and all are invited to give generously for the sake of the children for whom she and her staff are caring.
