R.S.A. PROGRAMME

COMMEMORATION SERVICES

The Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association has practically completed arrangements for Tuesday's services in commemoration of Anzac Hay. Programmes for the- children's memorial services in the morning and services at the Town Hall have been prepared. Wreaths from the following persons and organisations, with others, will be deposited at the War Memorial: —The Deputy Governor-General, Sir Michael Myers, the Navy, the Wellington City Council, Kir lan Hamilton, the G.0.C., New Zealand Military forces, Wellington R.S.A,, headquarters U.S.A., consuls, Wellington Harbour Board, Navy League, Rod Cross Society, St. John Ambulance, Wellington Rugby Union, and the- War Relict' Association. At 2.45 p.m. on Tuesday there will bo a mass parade of troops at the Basin Reserve. At 3 o'clock Miss . Gladys Wntkins will chime the hour on tho carillon, and the troops will come to attention while solemn requiem is played. After a hymn and the National Anthem have been played, the troogs will march in procession up Buckle Street and salute the campanilo, the carillonist playing them past. The parade will proceed down Taranaki Street into Courtenay Place, and along Manners and Willis Streets, and into Lambton Quay. At Stout Street the body will proceed into Bunny Street and then march back into LambtonQuay to march past the War Memorial and salute it from the front. The troops will dismiss in Johnston Street. The South African Veterans and ox-members of the Imperial Forces, both naval and military, and of the Australian forces, will para do with tho N.Z.E.F. In tho morning there will be a parade of ex-servico men under old regimental commanders. A children's memorial service at the War Memorial has been arranged by the Women's National Reserve with tho co-operation of the Wellington R.S.A., the Education Board, and tho Headmasters' Association. It will be conducted by the Rev. R. J. Howie, 8.A., and will commence at 11 o'clock. Floral tributes will bo deposited by representatives of schools and colleges prior to the service. The programme is as follows:—Anzae hymn, accompanied by Artillery Band; prayer, by the Rev. N. F. E. Robertshaw, M.A., M.C.; address by the Rev. W. Bramwell Scott, CF.; hymn, "Lest We For-' get"; funeral- dirge, "Beethoven," by Artillery Baud; Last Post and Reveille, by buglers of the First Battalion, Wellington Regiment; National Anthem; and Benediction. Official cars will enter the Government Buildings grounds by the Stout Street entrance. Representatives placing official wreaths are to bo at the main entranco, Government Buildings, at 10.50 a.m. A memorial service for the next-of-kin is to beheld in tho Town Hall at 2.30 p.m., and will be presided over by his Worship tho Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop. The programme is as follows:— 7 Mareho Funcbre (Chopin), by Salvation Army Citadel Band; hymn, "O God, Our Help in Ages Past"; prayer, tho Rev. ,W. Bramwell Scctt, C.F.; Scrip.turo reading, the Rev. T. Fieldeu Taylor; choir, "For the Fallen" (conductor Mr. H. Temple White, soloist Mrs. Amy Woodward, organist Mr. Clement Howe, drummer, Mr. W. Woodward); address by tho Rev. R. S. Watson,'M.A., M.C.; solo, "O Rest in the Lord," by Mrs. Wilfred Andrews; hymn, "Lead, Kindly Light"; Hallelujah Chorus (Handel), by combined choir, with Salvation Army Citadel Band and grand organ; National Anthem; and Benediction.' The march of returned soldiers will pass through. Manners Street at the conclusion of the service; A full rehearsal will be held tomorrow afternoon ,at 2.15, and choristers are asked to bring their own copies of "Messiah." A full attendance is expected. : In the evening at 8 o'clock a concert arranged by Mr. H. Temple White will take place in the Town Hall. The programme is as follows:—Organ solo, "A Song of a Hero," Largo from "Xerxes," Mr. H. Temple White; tenor solo, Prelude from "Cyelo of. Life," Mr. G. Austin Blackie; quartet, "Songs my Mother Taught Me," "The White Lily," tho Waiata Quartet; violoncello solo, "Cantilena," "Scherzo," Mr. Claude Tanner; mezzo-soprano solo, "Agnes Dei," Miss Molly Atkinson; baritone solo, "0 Star of Eve," Mr. Ken Macaulcy; playlet, "The Minuet," —Marquis Mr. Norman Byrne, Marchioness Miss G. Helen' Gardner, the gaolor Mr. J. E. Elliott; violin solo, Romance from Second Concerto (Wieniawski), Mr. Leon dc Manny; soprano, solo, "Shadow Song," Miss Myra Sawyer; trio, "Trio in B Flat" (Schubert), Madame Evelyn de Manny, Mr. Loon de Mauny, and Mr. Claude Tanner. The accompanist will be Madame Evelyn de Mauny. A collection will be taken in aid of the Soldiers' Cemetery, Karori, at both tho afternoon and evening gatherings.
