POUND STILL CLIMBS
HEAVY BUYING REPORTED
(Beceived April 21, 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 20. British currencies continued to rise on Thursday. Tho nominal opening quota for tho pound was 3 dollars 89 cents, and of the Canadian dollar 89J cents. French francs roso by approximately ono-fifth of a cent to 4.44 cents. Other currencies were also up. Heavy buying poured into the Stock Bxchango at tho opening, pushing the prices of numerous shares one to two dollars higher. Silver rose by from two to three cents an ounce. Winnipog wheat futures scored smashing gains of two and a half cents. In a wild opening at Chicago tho maximum jump was 5J cents a bushel, scored in wheat ■ futures on opening. All other grains followed. , (Boceived April 21, 8.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 20. British currencies receded slightly at noon. The pound was then at 3 dollars 86 cents, four cents below tho day's j highest quotation.
