MR. J. GORDON
The death of Mr. John Gordon, late of the New Zealand Railways, occurred in a private hospital on Tuesday after a short illness. Tho late Mr. Gordon was born in Milton, Otago, in 1867. He joined the railway service in 1884, and served in various parts of tho Dominion until 1902, when he was appointed inspector of permanent way at Wellington, a position which he hold until his retirement at the- end of 1925; During tho greater part of this period he also had charge of the permanent way of the Picton-Ward section. For many years Mr. Gordon was a keen poultry fancier, and he was secretary of the Wellington Poultry Association for some years. Ho was a prominent Freemason, and a member of several lodges in the city. / ■ Mr. Gordon is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. H. S. Irvine, of Wadestown, and two sons, Mr. Will Gordon, of Hataitai, and Mr. A. V. Gordon, of Boseneath.
