The National Expenditure 'Adjustment Bill was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. In moving; the second reading of the .Wellington City Empowering "Bill, the -, Eight Hon. Sir Francis Bell said'that . the Bill provided for the unexpended portions of loans raised for particular works on.other Works. The unexpended balance of the loan raised for waterworks was £113,000. The money had been saved on the Wainui-o-mata scheme, and was to be used for further waterworks. The present law did npt [require a poll for the diversion of unexpended money, but the City Council was. asking for the insertion of a > tolause for the taking.of a poll.
