PAHIATUA BRIDGE RATE
Described as a "friendly" action, a motion came before Mr. Justice Beed in the Suprome Court to-day for determination of the question of whether a special rate, called a bridge rate, passed by the Pahiatua County Council on 10th June, 1922, and confirmed by the council on Bth' July, 1922, is a valid rate for loan purposes.
■Mr. Smith, of Pahiatua, appeared for the Pahiatua County Council, and Mr. C. H. Treadwell for the other interested party, the Government Insurance Commissioner.
Af-ier heariag counsel, his Honour held that the rate was a valid rate for loan purposes.
