NEAT WIN IN HURDLES

iLandniark fell when a winning prospect three furlongs from home in the hack hurdles on Saturday, but he made amends by capturing the Corunna Hurdles after a most interesting race, in which the issue was always uncertain. He showed a better turn of pace than any. of his opponents from the last hurdle, and that enabled him to wear down Roynl Mint when success looked to be well within the grasp of the novice. lie carries the well-known navy blue and gold bars livery of the Blenheim owner, Mr. J. J. C"rry, and is developing into a worthy hurdle mate for the mor*> experienced Make Up.

Unoco, Royal j'tint, The VVarden, Calla-' mart, Apache, and Landmark were the rarly leaders, and Apaclie went up to Unoco turning into the back. leaving the straight, singled themselves out and set up a break on Landmark, Unoco, Callamart, and Apache before the field had reached the far turn. Royal Mint and Llandudno came back to the others on the bend, but they approached the lust fence still clear of Landmark and Callamart, and although Royal Mint momentarily went away again on landing over the obstacle. Landmark was not long in producing his challenge. < With a determined effort he overhauled the leader, and, heading him off near the post, beat Him home by a. length. ; Four lengths away Callamart got up" in the, final lew strides' to snatch third money from Llandudno. Then after a gap came Unoco and The Warden, with Panther, Okapua, and Apache bringing up the/rear. Apache, the. favourite,, was very' disappointing.. His effort in the back was short lived, and he lost ground steadily over the closing stages. Unoco, who was also warmly fancied after his good showing on Saturday, did not rise to the occasion.
