TRAMS AND LIGHTING
FIGURES FOR QUARTER
Returns presented to the City Council last evening showed that there hud been substantial decreases in the revenue of both the tramways and electricity departments during the'quarter ended 30th .Tune, as compared with the corresponding quarter of last year.
Tho electricity department still shows a substantial credit, though'mu'cb less than for Hie first quarter of 1930----yi, but the tramways department, .figures, which (rover buses us well as trams, indicate that the year is going to be a difficult one.: lievenue has dropped by £14,000, but against that thero have been substantial savings in operating expenses, but tho quarter's debit is still over £5000 larger than for the Juno quarter of last financial year.
