TRIBUTE SYSTEM
CONFERENCE IN PROGRESS
SETTLEMENT EXPECTED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WESTPOBT, This Day. There is every likelihood of the dispute over the tribute coal mining system being settled in the next twentyfour hours. The Alliance of Labour has telegraphed to Mr. D. Hayward, president of the District Miners' Council, advising him that the Alliance has instructed the watersiders to lift the embargo on Charming Creek and Cascade coals. A conference is being held today between the watersiders, seamen, 'and the miners district council to discuss the situation, and it is confidently j expected that the dispute will be settled. So far no intimation has.been received by the Titailway Department as to the latest move, but further information should be ' available when the confer-1 ence adjourns.
