A DAMAGED LINE
TO BE REPAIRED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, loth May. A start will bo made next week on reconditioning that portion of tho East Coast railway from Napier to Putorino, taken over by the Railway Department. Some months ago the section suffered considerably as a result of the earthquake, lines being badly twisted, while slips and otheT disturbances of the ground caused damage which is believed to cost many thousands of pounds to remedy. The absence, of the service has been keenly felt by the settlers on the line, ancl its restoration would be much appreciated.
