PRICES ARE FIRM
LONDON SALES CLOSE
(Received "16th May, 11 a.m.) LONDON, 15th May. The wool sales have closed with offerings to-day of 10,105 bales, including 2498 'bales New Zealand wools. About 5310 bales were sold. New Zealand wools sold to-day were greasy crossbreds. "Avoca," 7%d to 6%d; "Admiral," S^cl to 7d; "Taoroa," B%d to 7%d. Of the total, quantity of wools catalogued 137,520 bales' were sold. The home trade took 53,000, the Continent 61,500, United States 1000. Wool held over, amounted to 72,000 bales,; of which 58,000 were not offered. .-■••■.. , ~ The total of Australian,wools sfold was 48,000, and New Zealand wools 41,000. The market closed with a firm tone. _ There has been a large attendance ot buyers /throughout the series, and com-petition-was keener during the last few days than at any other time of the Merinos were practically, unchanged in prices from the closing of the March sales. Bradford toptnaking sorts were fully 5 per cent, below March rates. Crossbreds aold irregularly throughout the sale, but prices closed as the best of this* series, and were 5 to 7% per cent, below March rates; medium to low crossbreds were 35 per cent. down. Al slipes were 5 to 10 per cent;' easier. Lambs and clotning wools were cheap.
