SUPERANNUATION BOARD
The quarterly meeting of the Public Service Superannuation Board was held at the.boardroom, Wellington, on Thursday, Mr. J. W. Macdonald presiding.
Two hundred and thirteen contributors, /retired,by reason of age or;length of service, were granted allowances'of a total' of £44,531-per. nnnuny mid eleven contributors, retired, as medically unfit,' were' granted ■• allowances! totalling £642 per annum. The board refused to grant an. allowance, in one ease. ~ , Twenty-three widows and seven children were, grunted the statutory allowances amounting to SISOS per annum. j, , ■ Under the Finance Act, 10'!0, Ihere arc special provisions for granting retiring allowances to those officers of the Defence Department who are comrmlsorily .retired not later than 31st March, 1931. Two contributors were retired thereunder with, allowances aggregating £396 per annum. In consequence of retirements under Section' 26 of the .Act, accrued com-, pensation to the amount of £532 became a liability of the Superannuation Fund, and a corresponding relief, to the. Consolidated Fund. . •
