THE MISSING
! EIGHT AUTHENTICATED ' (By Tclegranh.—Press Association.) ■ NAPIER, This Day. The list, of those reported as possibly killed in the earthquake is a comprehensive one, but after a full police
inquiry it has been decided that many people whose names are included in the list cannot be said to be-authentically missing. ■ Tho total number of remains unidentified is twenty-six. It is believed that many bereaved families, fully convinced of the deaths of relatives, have not reported such persons as missing, with tho result that whilst 26 remains are unidentified, only eight people are definitely, known to be missing. They arc Michael Baker, an English tourist, who was staying at'the Masonic Hotel; Miss Kelly, a visitor, also at the Masonic Hotel; Mrs. Ada Mary Walshe, of Mount Herbert ;VArthur Dennett, Miss Ellen M'Kvcry, Miss Sybil Florence AVood, Miss Joyce Taylor, and Thomas Ryan, all of Napier.
