FUNERAL OF THE LATE J.R. RAW
♦ ■ A large and representative gathering of citizens from all parts of New Zealand -were present at the memorial service for the late Mr. J. R. Raw, J.P., in St. Paul's Pro-cathedral to-day. There was a profusion of beautiful floral tributes, and at the widow's request, they were afterwards placed on the soldiers' graves at Karori. The service at St. Paul's was conducted by the Rev. Canon James. Officer* and members of the Renown Lodge conducted the ceremony at the crematorium in conjunction with Canon James. The chief mourners wcro Roma Raw (daughter), John Raw (brother), ana Mr. George Gee (father-in-law). Messrs. J. Raw, T. S. Gee, P. Madden, L. O. Hooker, J. Bevcridgc,' and G. B. Menzics acted as pall-bearers. Among the many present were Sir Alfred Bankart, Sir John Luke-, Messrs. K. M. Grecnslade, D. W. Madden, Hugh Speight, Eliot C. Davis, A. S. Duncan, S. Fergusson, F. The contract for the erection of the memorial nrch in the Soldiers' Cemetery,' Karori, has been let to Mr. H. Glover. The work o£ erection is now ia progress.
