SIR FRANCIS BELL WRONG
HON. W. D. STEWART'S VIEW
Speaking in the second reading debate in the House of Kepresentatives on the FiDarico' Bill, the Hon. W. Dowliie Stewart'. (Eeforni, Dunedin West) said that he disagreed with the views which had been expressed; by Sir Francis Bell, and said his experience was that the Civil Service was better able to protect itself against wage cuts than many other sections of the workers. It was also wrong to suggest 'that the Civil. Service would bear one-third of the country's burden, as other sections had other burdens to carry.
