ROOF-TO-ROOF TAXIS
Taxi-cabs that hop from roof to roof in London form - the basis of a sensational project which is being considered by London aviation experts. One firm is building an autpgiro-taxi, which will be able to take off and land on a slvip of roof 30 yards long. The first hope of the. Air Ministry, which is backing the scheme ns an experiment (says_ the "Sunday Ex-, press"), i.s that the air-taxi may take Continental air passengers from the heart of London to Cro3'dou in less then ten- minutes to catch the mail 'planes. To-day passengers leave Central London by car an hour before their, aeroplane starts, and also have to make a slow road journey on arrival at Croydon. Nearly an hour and three-quarters could be cut off the LondonParis air journey_ if autogiro-taxis were used in both cities. The autogiro can drop on to a roof almost as gently as a parachute, and can rise in as direct a manner.
