TRAGEDY DUE TO DOG FIGHT
The capsizing of the ..dinghy in the Buller River on Sunday,- as' a result of which two young men,- Maurice. Lynch and William Spiers, wore drowned, is reported by a- West Cqast exchange to have arisen out of 'a fight among four dogs in the : boat. . The party, it is .stated,- set out'by •■-skirting the ertgo of-an eddy in the'river .with the idea of landing' on- a shingle bod at tho opposite side,'but the dogs began to fight before tho boat entered the current, and it. is considered that the dinghy' capsized before it reached the turning point for'the crossing. Thus it was quite close to. the point from which •the boat started that the two who oscaped reached the shore. It was apparently, a very unsuitable place at which to attempt to cross tho river.
The British Government lias raised .tho allowance for-Rufus, the Treasury cat in 'Whitehall, by. a penny a day. ■ -.■■•■•' : Messrs. Ramsey Wilson and ,: Co. sell superior household furniture, 2 p.rri;,' tomorrow, at auction, rooms, Maaaerj atreet-,
