EDNA BEST WALKS OUT
(Received 19th February, 11 a.m.) HOLLYWOOD, 18th February. Aboard a speeding east-bound train somewhere in the Middle West is Edna Best, a lonely British actress, bound for London on Wednesday next, and Hollywood is gasping because she walked out on John Gilbert on Tuesday, leaving him .1 full cast of players and an irate director flat. Sho sent a telegram saying: "Please forgive me. I'am on my way back to London and my husband. I am awfully homesick; besides I am just afraid I would not be any good in the picture."! Leila Hyams replaced Edna Best after tho furore subsided.
Edna Best appeared in the British film "Loose Ends," which recently screened in Wellington. In this picture sho was starred with Owen Naves. She is an actress of considerable stage cx-
pcrience.
