WAGES CUT PROPOSALS ENDORSED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) EOTOEUA, 18tU February. : The Newspaper Proprietors' Association, to-day decided that the next annual conference be held at Auckland. The association placed on record endorsement of the Prime Minister's proposals in. regard to a 10 per cent, cut I in wages and salaries. Bei'erence was made to the hardship that the Hawkes Bay papers had suffered as a result of the recent earthquake. The conference decided to send. aa expression of sympathy with them in the^position of almost unprecedented hardship in which they stand, and also admiration for the courage they had shown under very painful circumstances, and best wishes for the early j re-establishment of • the enterprises j |which mean so much to them. i Officers for 1931 wore elected as follows: President, Mr. C.
