CONCLUDING DAY

DROP IN GATE RECEIPTS

There was a large crowd present at' the concluding day o£ the Masterton A. and P. Association's forty-fourth annual Show. As on the opening day. the weather waß perfect. . The gate receipts were lower than last year. The total takings for the two days amounted to £417 17s 3d, a decrease of £143 12s Cd compared with last year's Show. The second day's gate receipts were £389 7s 9d. The Farmers'' Union fleece competition attracted n fair number of entries. The Alfred Matthews' Memorial Cup was won by Groves Bros. The following are additional awards in the championship classes:—Stallion: Moore, Hunter Estate (Hawera), champion; T). M'Kenzie (Masterton), reserve champion. Hack: Miss E. Voyce (Masterton). Pony: G. H. Perry (Master-* ton). . ■ . • i Mr. C. S. Daysh's Marvel (Clareville) won the Cameron Cup for the best dog in the working classes. The best dog in the Show was exhibited by W. H. Trengrove (Featherston). Commenting. on the' draught horses, the judge, Mr. R. D. Knight, of Longburn, said that the animals exhibited ware fit to appear in any show in New Zealand. The standard of the working horses generally waS good and quite up to that of previous years. Mr. P. J. Petersen, the judge of the Jersey cattle, said that the quality was good, especially in aged cows. The yearling heifers showed good dairy quality, but were not quite as good as should be seen around the district.
