FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE
(From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON, 18th February. The annual conference of the United Fire Brigades' Association "will commence in Nelson on Bth March. The following committee was set up by a public meeting to arrange for the entertainment of 150 delegates: —Messrs. G. P. Russell (chairman), H. Duncan, J. Newman, A. Dee, the Hon. W. W. Snodgrass, F. "W. Huggins, "E. J. Seantlebury, E. E. Boyes, W. Black, C. Griffin, W. M. Keeeh, S. Benyon, W. Gould, H. Brough, H. Coltman, J. Stewart,, H. Stewart, I. Tunnicliffc, A. Bennctt (captain, Nelson Brigade), and H. J. Richardson (secretary, Nelsou Brigade). . As a recommendation to the committee the following programme was outlined:— 7th March: Informal welcome to visitors in Council Chambers in the ing--Bth March: Church parade, 10 a.m. Drive in country in afternoon. 9th March: Conference at 9 a.m. Civic reception at 10 a.m. Bowling or pictures in the evening. 10th' March: Confercce at 9 a.m. j Guests Bichmond Brigade in evening. 11th March: Viisit Motueka and Eiwaka, inspecting orchards, tobacco and hop gardens, as guests of the Motueka Brigade. Dinner in Nelson in, the evening. 12th March: Day in Nelson visiting places of interest, including Griffin's [and Kirkpatrick's factories and the i Cawthron Institute. A ladies' committee for the enterj tainment of the delegates' wives is to be formed by the Maydress, Mrs. Moffatt. It was stated there will be about 150 dolegates in Nelson for the conference, which is to be hold in the Council Chambers.
