The Lyall Bay Home and School Association resumed its .activities, after the Christmas recess, on. Tuesday evening, when the executive committee met. The president, Mr. F. W. Boyd, presided. The treasurer's statement showed a credit balance of £56 15s lOd. It was decided to donate £5 for the purchase of raffia and other materials for the infants' school, and to provide a sewing machine for the upper school. The resignation of Mrs. Cr. P. Hodgman. as a member of the committee, owing to her removal to Lower Hutt, was accepted with regret, and it was resolved to farewell her at a social evening next month. The headmaster's request for the renovation of the furniture in the primer classrooms was referred to the president an 3 chairman, of the School Committee (Mr. H. M. Harris). Mr. H. E. Searle presided over the monthly meeting of the Eataitai School Committee, held at the school recently, this, being the first meeting for the new year. It was decided, to congratulate Mrs. Fouhy on her promotion to a school in the Masterton district, and to express the commifcteo's deep regret at the Hataitai school losing1 her services. Mr. Searle spoke of the fact that during her ten years on the staff she proved a most efficient teacher, and a real friend of the children, entering into all the activities of the school with great zeal. These remarks were endorsed by Mr. C. Robertson (headmaster). Pleasure • was expressed at the fact that the big hole at-the back of the new concrete Wall was now being filled, and that when this was com-,, pie feed. there, would be increased play* gr-ound space. .
