TRACK WORK AT RICCARTON

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHKISTCHUBCH, This Day. Unfavourable weather conditions interfered with training . operations at Riccarton this morning.. Dense fog enveloped the course when the early arrivals put in an appearance, and prevented the trainers starting promptly as usual. Some were content. to work in the fog, but those who galloped early could not be timed, as it was impossible to .distinguish them at a distance of fifty yards. The fog cleared very gradually, and the sun then, shone brightly. Outside the course proper was open, but a lot of work was done on the plough, which was in excellent order. On the plough Straightcourse led Full Feather over seven furlongs in lmin 32 sec, the former being several lengths in front at the finish. Muff covered seven furlpngs, taking lmin 18sec over the last six. \ Spoon reeled off seven, furlongs in lmin 28 3-ssec. ' She carried a light weight, and went exceptionally ' fast over the first part of the journey, but was tiring at the finish. Charmeuse beat Giggleswich by three lengths over six furlongs in lihin 16 3-ssee. ' {■ Meprisant did a mile in..lmin .43.3-5 sec-after doing the first, five, furlongs in lmin 4 l-ssec. Spear Lad beat Pat's Boy over six furlongs in lmin 19sec. • • Cape Gold finished well clear^of Maritime over half a mile in. 50 3-ssec. Ma,ritime pulled up lame and is an unlikely starter on Saturday. Hoylake beat Desert Song easily over seven furlongs, taking lmin 5 ' 2-sseo over the last five. Knockany and Sleipner were together throughout a seven furlong spin in lmin 35sdc. . j Miss Mercia ran a mile in lmin 46 2-ssee, but was stopping a little at the finish. , Lambent sprintted half a mile- in 51 2-ssec. ' ■ Tray Bond led Some Acre over five furlongs up tho back, taking 50 2-ssec over the last half-mile. Type and Sapient were well matched over five furlongs in lmin 3 2-ssec —a smart performance. Type finished solidly. Fair Weather, Kameses, Hot Tea, Black Duke, Assemble, and Last March arrived this morning from Wingatui. The Otago jockey, A. E. Didham, has arrived for Saturday's meeting. His riding engagements meantime are Black Duko and Fair Weather. B. H. Morris intended to be at Biccarton on Saturday to ride Concentrate and Gesture. Unless the absence of tho Trentham pair causes a change in: plans, the North Island horseman will pilot Spoon, Meprisant, Kakara, and Muff in' their engagements.
