QUESTION OF THE PRESS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) : . BOTOBUA, 18th February, The Now Zealand Press Association directorate passed the following resolution: "The directorate having considered the refusal of the Cricket Council to give official recognition to a representative of the Dominion Press on the occasion of the tour of the New Zealand cricket team abroad, resolved that the public are entitled to the fullest information about the doings of the team in view of the financial support that has been given to the council, and in the best interests of the game. The refusal of the council to accord full facilities to a Press representative havemade proper reporting of the tour impossible. The association, in the public interest, emphatically protests against the arbitrary and .unjustifiable action of the council." BOTOBUA, This Day. Tho annual'meeting of the Press Association to-day approved of a resolution protesting against the attitude of the Cricket Council in regard to tho recognition of the Association's representative in reporting the cricket tour. CHEISTCHUECH, This Day. "I was surprised to read the resolution of the Press Association directorate as the council has been negotiating with the Association's manager in Wellington about Press arrangements for the tour," said Mr. Donnelly, chairman of the New Zealand Cricket Council, when asked for his comments on \he protest made by the directors of the Press Association regarding the attitude of the council to the Press arrangements for the forthcoming tour of England. '' The important question at the moment," he added, "is not whether a Press man should go with the team, but whether there will be a team for a Press man to go with. The council has always appreciated and been very grateful for the publicity given to the game by the Press of the Dominion, and if a touring team goes satisfactory arrangements will bo made with the Press Association.
