LONDON'S LAST TRIBUTE
TO EARL OF BIRKENHEAD
(Received 4th October, 2 p.m.)
LONDON, 3rd October. London paid its last tribute to Lord Birkenhead at Grey's Inn Chapel, where a memorial service was held before the ho&y was taken to Golder's Green for cremation. There was a distinguished company of lawyers and friends. Lady Birkenhead, with her daughters and son, stood beside the coffin. A statement has been issued on behalf of the Countess saying that she is greatly touched by the number of people of all classes, especially the poorer people, who have passed the bier. She was most anxious that they should be able to attend the Abbey memorial, for which entry will therefore be without ticket.
