The 1929-30 season' of • tfie"; Mercantile, Cricket League was officially closed on; Saturday evening, when the cups and tro : tions, and a fine sporting spirit had prevailed throughout. The grading had been caried out with much thought, and the competitions in each grade had been in doubt up to the last game. The finances
of-the league were again in a sound position, .' -:: ' .:-'■• •■.-••"■ * .'• ... The feast of ''The Wellington Mercantile Cricket; teague" was proposed by Mr. R.A. Wrkht, who spoke on the good work being j done by the league; over 300 players -jvere provided with a game every Saturday. This in itself, remarked Mr. Wright, showed what was being accomplished, but_ most particularly, the main object of the league —that of foßtering the game amongst those employed .in business, thereby promoting ' a better acquaintance among the various staffs—was being achieved.
