TO HELP THE WORKLESS
(To the Editor.) Sir,— May I suggest that we Start a silver-trail from Auckland to Christchurch for the benefit.of the unemployed. I, for one,' up to two years ago, suffered the pangs of unemployment for ',' seventeen, months, and I can sympathise with my fellow-men who are out of work, at. the present time. If everybody would contribute sixpence per week for eleven weeks out of their wages I am sure it would amount to quite a large siim. If some gentleman would head the list with a few shillings I am sure the rest of the people would follow. Then some responsible people could form a committee and distribute the fund in the way of work, and it would not be necessary to advertise to the whole world that New Zealand isflooded with unemployed. I, for one, will be only too grateful to give my small contribution as well as any service that will help.—l am, etc., ■ . ,/ SAMUEL NICOLL.
