FALSE PRETENCES ALLEGED
(By Telegraph.) (Special to -'The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, lltli April. Bernard Sidney Spender, a public accountant in the Now Zealand Insurance building, appeared in the Police Court on a charge of false pretences. The charge was: "That on. 2nd .April, 1929, the accused did'obtain from A. A. Corban and Company a cheque for £27 Ss by means of a false pretence by falsely representing that he did pay the amount for income tax oij behalf of the company." The Magistrate remanded accused to appear next Thursday. It was stated further charges were pending. ' An application for bail was made on I behalf of the accused. The Magistrate fixed the amount of bail at £1000, self in £500, and two sureties of £250 each. ■■...-.
